…but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (Mark 4:19)

This verse tells us three things that keep us from victory, from being fruitful. These are things that “choke” the word.  The word even warns us in 1 Timothy 5:8, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

However, we can have victory! Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
