Grace for Each Moment
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.” … Exodus 16:4-5Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple … Matthew 4:1-11God leads us day by day. He provides for us daily. He directed us to pray, “Give us this day, our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11 He tells us, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:24Why do we have so much trouble staying in this day, in this moment? When the Israelites tried to gather extra manna for the next day, it spoiled. Lord, give me the wisdom to rely on you for today and to not worry about tomorrow because you are already there.
